Summer Getaway

What a wonderful weekend! I was blessed to spend time at the beach with family. We had a special time dipping our toesies in the cold Pacific, searching for seashells, and just relaxing to the sounds of the surf.

I love visits to Neskowin, Oregon. It is a tiny village filled with nautical charm, petite cottages and brightly colored gardens. It is the perfect setting for peaceful strolls and lots of picture taking.

I love Hydrangeas....and, on the coast they bloom in so many colors.
They thrive in the sandy soil along the Oregon Coast.

What would summer be without a bit of Red, White and Blue?

It won't be long and the blackberries will be ready!
Blackberry Pies, Cobbler, Scones....
Delicious!!!

Walks along the waters edge...Paradise!

So many huge blooms....and, oh....the pinks!

I hope you'll join me for my next post...
My sister and I were able to tour two of the cutest beach cottages.
I was graciously allowed to take pictures to share with all of you.
Stay tuned for my next post...

Blessings,
Carolynn  xoxo

Blueware

It's Summertime at Chenille Cottage!

Make yourself at home....I hope you'll stay for a while.
My sister, Patti, made this lovely red, white and blue quilt for my birthday.
I just love it!

And, One for Me!
Be a Lamb...and Stay For a While!
My Blue and Yellow Canisters were given to me as a gift in 1970.
I have always loved blueware of any kind.

Mouthwatering Watermelon

Fun!

My sweet husband brought this Gzhel Sugar Bowl back from a trip he took to Russia. He has a tradition of bringing something blue home to me when he travels overseas. I love this darling sugar bowl with it's lovely shape and rich blue hues.
The sweet little Dutch Girl was passed on to me by my Mother. It was given to her in the 1920s when she was a little girl. I have fond memories from my childhood of admiring it, but, never touching. It is a precious keepsake!
Milkglass from my friend & distant cousin, Laura
I love Chickens...
Any way, shape or form!
"This Little Piggy went to Market..."
I have had these little salt and pepper shakers for over 30 years.
Aren't they cute?!!

"Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt,
so that you will know how you should respond to each person."
  Colossians 4:6  NASB

Sometimes I fall so short of this challenging passage of scripture!

"Blue sounds like the mighty Pacific.
Blue smells like a blueberry on a bush.
Blue tastes like a blueberry on my tongue.
Blue feels like a turquoise puffer fish in the ocean.
Blue looks like a shimmering sea.
Blue feels like a shard of beach glass.
Blue sounds like a whale singing."

Sweet cream comes from Contented Cows!
My kitchen isn't complete without a few happy bovines!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit, my dear friends!
I hope you'll come back again, soon!

Sew Many Quilts

Welcome to my favorite Quilt Shop! Upon entering this charming shop you will be greeted by the nicest ladies...Each one is always ready to help you and so very friendly. I always feel right at home each time I visit.

Yes, It's Christmas in July in the shop! Now is the time to get started on all those Christmas projects.

Lots and lots of RED throughout the shop...and, how I love that old fashioned snuggly texture!

Snowmen...Christmas Trees...A Winter Wonderland.....and, all ready for the season.

Cozy Little Birdhouses for our feathered friends. "Home Tweet Home" for the Holidays!

The thought of winter seems inconceivable with our temperatures in the nineties! But, before we know it the snowflakes will be flying and these little snow people will be visiting our neighborhoods once again!

This week is the Sister's Quilt Show. Thousands of people from around the world come to visit Central Oregon.  There are many festivities, classes, open houses and displays for all to participate in.

If you are in this part of the country for the Sister's Quilt Show, I hope you will find time to pop in and say hello to my sweet friends at "Sew Many Quilts".

Blessings, everyone...
Have a wonderful day!

Patriotic Blessings

**Please bear with me until I can figure out how to add to my sidebar!

I hope you all had a great 4th of July!  Across America many enjoyed outdoor barbecues, patriotic parades, munching on hot dogs and watermelon and an evening of brightly colored fireworks! For all it was a perfect way to celebrate our nation's Independence Day!

Long May She Wave!
I love to quilt! Most of my quilts are small...not for warmth, but for my love of decorating. I made my first quilt in 1991.

My husband is a retired Naval Officer. He served 22 years in the United States Navy. I loved being a Navy wife. The challenges and separation were difficult but the rewards were many. If we had it to do over again, we would in a minute!

"I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy...
Yankee Doodle Do or Die.
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam,
Born on the Fourth of July!"

I made this Uncle Sam quilt for my husband several years ago. It is one of my very favorites!

This miniature quilt was a thank you gift that I made for the French family that my husband stayed with when he attended the 50th Anniversary of D-day in 1994. He served as a translator at the Utah Beach Ceremonies.

I am very fond of Raggedy Ann & Andy! My son, Matthew, gave my first pair to me when he was a senior in high school. He had overheard me saying that as a little girl I had yearned for my own. They are one of the most thoughtful gifts my son has ever given me. Today, I have added many more to my collection.

Can you tell that I love Red, White and Blue?? Year round my home is filled with the color red...but, in the summertime I love adding white and blue!

This photo was taken 24 years ago! My husband just returned from six months in the Persian Gulf and the Pacific.  This was one of the happiest days of my life!

Thank you for stopping by my dear blogging friends
I hope you will come back soon!
Blessings,
Carolynn  xoxo

Aprons

I have been busy in my sewing room making more aprons! On hot days it's so nice to squirrel myself away in the air conditioning and stitch away!

I love making aprons as gifts. They are a passion for me with their old fashioned charm. I have always felt that the gifts I give should be the gifts I would love to receive.

Just right for Mommy's little helper!

I had the fun of making this little apron for my great niece, Ainsley. She's our family's miracle baby!  She was born two years ago prematurely at 27 weeks. Baby Ainsley weighed 2 lbs. 11 oz.  Last week, she went to the doctor and weighed in at 29 incredibly wonderful pounds. She's healthy, happy and such a sweet little girl!
She celebrated her second birthday this past weekend. Happy Birthday, Ainsley Marie!
To God be the glory! We thank Him for touching our little angel girl!

It was a pleasure stitching up this summery apron for my friend, Sharon. I hope she will wear it in comfort and good health. It is a colorful version of my original flapper style apron that I shared in one of my previous posts.

I enjoy personalizing each apron I make with my "Chenille Cottage" labels.
I machine embroidery my labels on twill tape.

AN APRON WITHOUT RICKRACK...IS LIKE A DAY WITHOUT SUNSHINE!!!

Thanks, so much, for popping in...my sweet friends!
I hope you have a wonderful week!

Blessings,
Carolynn xoxo

"If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."   II Chronicles 7:14  (NIV)

I absolutely love red, white and blue!
Thank you, Debra, for hosting a "Vintage Patriotic Party"!
