Pillowpalooza

I'm almost as crazy about pillows as I am about aprons!

Linda's blog "it all started with paint" is hosting a link party. I just couldn't resist joining in on the fun! 

I made these little pillows from vintage quilt blocks & linens.

There are two rooms in my home that are painted in soft pastels...our master bedroom and guestroom.

As much as I love the color RED...I enjoy peaceful pastels to slip away to for a pleasant nap or a good nights sleep.

Very inexpensive project...Made from a drapery sample & thrifted vintage crochet.

I was blessed to attend a Martha Pullen Heirloom School and learned wonderful sewing techniques.

Another inexpensive project...Made from a well worn table cloth.

A bolster that I made from drapery scraps...

Bluework embroidery on linen...Don't you love these two little sweethearts?!

Pumpkin Bread

Today was such a beautiful day...with blue skies and cool breezes!

I am going to visit my Mom for a few days and I wanted to bake something special for my hubby to eat while I'm away.

Sweets for the Sweet!

"Recipe for a Good Marriage" 

5 cups Love
4 cups Understanding
4 cups Kindness
3 cups Forgiveness
5 cups Patience
3 cups Tenderness
1 cup Laughter

Put them all together and they spell "Happiness."

Oh, the sweet smell that greeted my husband when he walked through the door this afternoon...The look on his face said it all!

I love Mondays

Welcome, My dear friends...

Yes, I really do love Mondays!

Mondays are special to me because they are the beginning of a brand new week. Fresh laundry, fresh ideas, a list of fun sewing projects...so many things that I am yearning to get started after a busy weekend.

I had the joy of making this for Lilly. I wanted her to have her very own Dorothy costume from the "Wizard of Oz".  Having been the Mother of two sons...It was a dream come true to be able to sew this for her.

And, the final touch...A big fluffy bow!

Red Barns

Welcome to the county where I was born...The area is a charming little farming community. It has an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables...tiny farmhouses and quaint little quilt and antique shops sprinkled throughout.

When I was born my grandparents had a tiny ranch they called "Yamhill". They raised bright red chickens called Rhode Island Reds.

Welcome to my kitchen...I have brought a little bit of Yamhill County home with me.

Summertime in the Willamette Valley is a time of abundance...A time to be thankful for all that God has blessed us with...

 **My dear friend, Shirley, at www.zettasaprons.blogspot.com shared that she had a "Patti Play Pal" when she was a young girl. Do you still have her, Shirley? Does anyone else have a Patti Play Pal doll?

 **My darling friend, Vicky, at www.thewestraworld.blogspot.com asked if I knew anything about the doll that modeled my toddler apron. Vicky shared that she has one that has dark hair...

     And, so....I thought it would be fun to do a little looking around...

Vintage Aprons

You can never have too many aprons!! 
      For all you Mommies and Grammys....
           This applies to the children in your life, too!

I love making aprons for the little ones in my life!

I adore rickrack! It adds a sweet touch of charm.

A tiny pocket to hold treasures!

       What a busy week it has been and I have loved every minute I've spent in my sewing room!

This vintage apron is from the 1920s and is referred to as a "flapper apron".
    Isn't it wonderful?!

I have another sweet little project nearly finished that I will be posting...once I sew a button on it. :)

Monkeying Around

Good Monday Morning....My sweet family and friends! Many people don't like Mondays...but, I do!


Today, I have the pleasure of spending the day hanging out in my sewing room...or, as I like to call it..."My Sandbox".   (I'm like a child who, once I start sewing, doesn't want to stop...No matter what!)

Bungalows by the Sea

How I have missed you, my dear blogging family and friends! I've been away at the coast. I hope you enjoy some of the lovely cottages that dot the landscape in the tiny village of Neskowin. It is snugly nestled on the beautiful Pacific Ocean along the coast of Oregon.  

"HOME AGAIN...HOME AGAIN...HOME to THE SEA"

Scenes from where I grew up as a child...It's always so wonderful returning to the area where I spent most of my childhood. I love visiting special places that take me back to my early days in Oregon.

***Sweet Ocean Breezes...Ahhh!
***Seagulls flying overhead
***Strolling along the waters edge
***Salt Water Taffy
***Searching for Seashells
***Sea Lions basking in the sun
***Seaweed washed ashore

It's good to be home, again...Back to the other side of the mountains where the snow is still glistening on high and lofty peaks.

My darling friends...I have some visiting to do...and, oh, how I look forward to popping in to see what you have all been up to!
