Warmth of Home

This past week has been so busy!  I'm so glad you have found time to stop by.
Some time ago I inherited my Gramma's button box. There were so many beautiful buttons to sort and sift. I didn't want to hide them away and so I decided to display them proudly in my living room. What fun I had "tweaking" a very plain lampshade.  When I turn the lamp on it fills the room with warmth as each button seems to glisten and glow.

I love this time of year. Home seems so much cozier...so much warmer as the brisk winds and cool temperatures arrive.
My sister, Patti, made this beautiful Autumn quilt for my sister, Marsha. I was asked to photograph it for my sister's quilting business.
I tend to prefer brighter colors, but, oh, these warm Autumn colors add such an inviting touch.

A closer look...Aren't the colors soothing and peaceful?
I love the touches of baby blue throughout. They remind me of the Autumn sky.

My sister did a beautiful job of machine quilting this feather pattern.
She used a variegated thread.
It adds such a nice contrast.

Thank you for popping in, my dear blogging friends.
I always love hearing from you...
So many of you have left such kind comments.
Blessings and Thanks to each one of you!

Carolynn  xoxo

I love your button lampshade made with all your grandma's buttons. What kind of glue did you use? And the Autumn quilt that your sister made is gorgeous!! WOW! I LOVE it. She is a genius with color placement!

Wow! You did an amazing job on the button lampshade! I inherited my mother's button's too! I have only recently started crafting with them though. I have been making fabric yo yo's and adoring them with button's from my mother's collection. She had button's from Germany (where my father was stationed in the military). So, I have packs of button with German written on them. Pretty cool!
Your sister is such a sweetheart for making you that beautiful quilt! What a crafty hand she has! Simply beautiful! :)

Carolynn, that is such a clever idea! I love the button lamp shade. Makes me almost wish I hadn't given my collection of the great grandparents' (combined) button boxes to our daughter. Okay, not really, because I do want her to have them. But there were wonderful buttons in there!! I'm going to tell her about your idea. It's a great way to display them.

Also a lovely quilt. And thank you for stopping in at Cranberry Morning and leaving such a sweet comment.

Hello Carolynn. I am a new follower. I saw you on Sandi's new Home party and your blog looks amazing. I absolutely love your header. It's my kind of style. Love your colors and photography. The quilt is so pretty and what a great way to showcase your grandma's pretty collection of buttons. I've peeked a little bit into some of your past posts and look forward to seeing more. We love Oregon and usually try to make it there once a year. We start up I-5 and then cut over to the coast and come back home. I hadn't heard of the little town you mentioned but will check it out. Sounds like the kind that interests us. Please visit the Cottage. I would love to have you stop by and follow, too, if you would like. You would be very welcome either way..Happy Wednesday..Judy

I inherited both of my grandmothers' button tins. I have had so many happy years using them on various projects. The lampshade is lovely! What an original use for the buttons...you will be able to enjoy them every day! I also have a sister named Patti. She was named after my Grandma Patta...who was supposed to be Patti if it weren't for the misprint on her birth certificate. lol!

The quilt is so pretty, and I have always thought it was such a talent when one could sew. The lamp shade is very special, as it comes with all your gramma's buttons. I remember my mom used to have a box of buttons. How I wish I kept it now. What a clever idea to display them on the lamp shade. You did a great job. Have a nice weekend.

What a creative way to display your grandmother's buttons. It reminds me of the the beautiful colors found on the inside of shells. I know we are not to be envious, but I am "pea green with envy" over the beautiful Autumn quilt. Your sister Patti is so talented and Marsha must take such pride is displaying this work of love.

Carolyn, your displays are simply stunning! And you just helped me date the Dutch Girl (and Boy) in my Etsy shop! The girl is almost identical to yours but is painted blue rather than black. Very old and chippy, but I had no idea it dated back to the 30's. Thanks for the help! haha Have a wonderful week!
