Ahhh...This is such a glorious time of year!
Autumn Leaves....
ORANGE, RED & GOLD...
Plump Pumpkins, Colorful Gourds...
Kettles simmering with luscious Fall soups...
And, evenings spent by a crackling fire curled up with a good book.
 |
I gathered Fall florals from my stash that I display year after year and encircled this lovely soup tureen.
I spied this white tureen while thrifting. It was only $2.25!
It was missing the ladle...but, I already have one.
The outer yellow accent was another thrifted find for $1.
Tweaking is fun
&
Thrifty can be pretty! |

Red Welsh Cupboard
Knowing that my favorite color is red
my sweet husband gave me this wonderful cupboard.
I had fun adding pops of orange here and there.
I love collecting blueware and have several pieces.
I'm not a dish snob.
My husband has brought me blueware from around the world
& I love mingling my thrifted and gifted pieces side by side. |
 |
I am a huge fan of "homespun plaids". They add such a charming touch to any decor.
I simply measured the length of the table...Cut and then added a long overhanging ruffle to both ends.
I have admired the burlap table runners I have seen on my friend's blogs and wanted to make one, too. |
 |
My husband and I found this Harvest Table when we lived in Tennessee.
It came from a small country church in Dandridge, Tennessee.
It's over 100 years old.
I can only imagine how many heartfelt prayers of thanksgiving
have been prayed around this wonderful old table. |
 |
My lovable feline, Zoey, had to do a little investigating.
Whenever I do any decorating she has to be right in the middle of everything....
Giving it her final sign of approval.

It makes me so happy knowing that you stopped by,
my dear blogging friends!
I do hope you have a great week.
For those who are in the midst of the storm
Please know that I am praying for you.
Blessings,
Carolynn xoxo

I love the colors in your blog this morning. How cheerful. And even though I have an long oval table I'm going to try to make a homespun plaid table runner with ruffles. We'll see how that works. : / With so many people filled with fear today because of hurricane Sandy your blog with scripture is such a blessing. Thank you for lovely colors, creative ideas, and God's Blessings.
What a lovely and colourful post! Have a nice week.
I agree, plaids are great. I think they are very homey. Love your runner! Jean
Oh, I used to use plaid a lot, you have inspired me to take it out again, very beautiful, love the ruffle on the table runner!
Simply beautiful. I love how you ruffled the edge. I love plaid but never know what to do with it...smiles...Renee
How I love you red cupboard! Those blue and white dishes (which I collect too) look fantastic on it. Your farm table is lovely too and the table runner looks perfect on it. I love homespun plaid too!
Thanks for such a beautiful post!
Linda
Perfect passage of Scripture for this storm time. Stay safe.
I love plaid and only wish it looked as good to wear as it does to decorate with. :-)
Your pictures are a delight to look at - I just love your table runner! And your floral centerpiece looks wonderful and festive. May you have a lovely day, friend!
Hugs,
Stephanie
I love all of your beautiful color displays! This is most certainly my favorite time of year. I like Winter/Christmas but there is just something about Fall that does not compare to any other season! It's beauty is simply remarkable! :)

Dearest Carolynn, What a warm, cozy and beautiful post as always! I love your gorgeous autumn decorations and the beautiful red cupboard your dear hubby gave you. He is a sweetie! Your blue dishes look perfect in it with all the other pretties. The plaid tablecloth is gorgeous! What a wonderful idea! I love the ruffles and it is beautiful on your table! That table is so meaningful and special and I am glad you have it dear heart. You treasure it and the love that came with it. God is so good to bless us with such beauty to enjoy in decorating our homes! I loved seeing sweet Zoe and all of your lovely photos! I always feel like I am getting the warmest most loving hug when I visit you. I pray that will happen in person one day! Beautiful scripture! I love that verse and I love you! Your girlie~Paula
Okay, I've died and gone to heaven with that gorgeous plaid. Sigh...so perky and happy. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!
Glad you liked the apron, Carolynn I'm thinking it would definitely bring hearts closer, but I'm not so sure it would make it in politics. ;)
XOXO's,
Marcia
Raggedy Ann...sniff-sniff...I've been wanting one forever. LOVE how you displayed her here. Adorable.
XOXO's
Your photos are so bright and cheerful! I love your plaid runner. The white tureen was a super buy and looks great on your table. Good shopping.
Judy
I am just going to lay it on the line here :)
I love your posts and you / I have been blogging for under six months but I have to say that finding your blog and your talent and your sweet spirit has been a joy and blessing for me. I know that sounds a bit mushy but it is true :)
Hi Carolynn!! What a beautiful table runner! I adore plaid! How sweet is your kitty!! Too cute!! Wishing you a beautiful and creative week!! Blessings, Heather
Every thing looks so vibrant and beautiful!
Hi, Carolynn, I love your vintage table! It must feel so good to know that your family is honoring all the families before it when you gather together to give thanks around the table. And your runner is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your lovely photos.
Hi Carolynn,
Your scripture verse is so very appropriate for this week, thanks for sharing it. LOVE your red hutch filled with blue and white china! The little sheep up top caught my eye too. I love sheep! What a wonderful table and I really like your plaid runner. I always enjoy my visit here and thank you for sharing with Tea Time. Have a lovely week.
Blessings,
Sandi
Love your red cupboard and your blues: I think I spotted 'Liberty Blue' and 'Blue Willow' in there...gorgeous!
You are so talented my dear. Everything is decorated so beautifully. You are welcome to come over any time. giggles.

Hi Carolynn,
Whenever I come to visit, I know I'm going to be treated with bundles and bundles of coziness! I have a weakness for Welsh dressers, (as you know!), and in my world, plaid is perfection! Absolutely adore these images; how inviting your spaces are! Thanks for sharing and yes, with re: to your kind comments over at my place, that cuppa sure sounds sweet!
Have a great day!
Poppy xo
Your plaid is wonderful. A very pretty one. It dresses up everything for the season. The table is so great too. I love old furniture with character. The hutch? Wow, wow , wow. I love it. I love that it is red. We are redoing our little kitchen and I am making one portion of it looking like a hutch (altho the bottom is really a kitchen pull-out) and guess what color I am painting it? Red! Excited to see yours. Blue and whites look super on red. Love the skirt at the bottom too. Good hubby.
Ruthie from: http://www.ladybstimefortea.blogspot.com
What a beautiful runner and centerpiece! Your red hutch is definitely the bees knees - yay, hubby! You take such great photographs.
Oh, and I just love your button lampshade - hot glued on, I'm assuming!
Well, I have power again. We only lost for 30 hours. The hard part of not having power is not knowing for how long it will be. (Should we unpack the freezer, and start grilling or just wait a little longer?)
I have so enjoyed how you and other bloggers have added orange touches to blueware to bring a Fall flavor! I honestly would never have thought of that. In fact, I actually packed away my blueware for the season, thinking I would bring it back out in January! Instead, I have out my Johnson Bros. Harvest time and other brown and brown/multi tansferwar, and brown dripware. Maybe next year I'll mix the blues and browns and accent with golds/oranges. So pretty! I love your rug too, and I'm with you on homespun plaids. I have a runner on my side table that is cranberry and ecru, it always cozies up the space.
Hi there, Carolynn~ My, your home is charming! Just filled with color and warmth and touches of love. I adore your furniture. I have a weakness for Farm tables (we have a small one in the kitchen that has a drawer on one side), Dish Dressers (your red one is the 'bomb.com') and plaids! Perfect post for my swooning heart- haha. You certainly created a lovley centerpiece...now, what kind of soup are you going to make?
Hugs
Shawn
Dear Carolyn, The red hutch is wonderful. I love the plaid table runner and I can't believe you snapped up that tureen for that price. I paid more for mine at a garage sale. Good for you! Your table looks so festive and inviting!
I love the pictures in your beautiful post! The homespun plaid table runner is lovely, and I like how Zoey the cat helped. I have 3 feline helpers who are my style assistants, too :) And I love your soup tureen--I haven't found one yet, but I keep visiting the thrift stores, so maybe soon.
Carolynn, your photos are so warm and inviting. Love Raggedy Ann in the high chair and of course I love your blue and white china in the red cabinet. Thank you for sharing this at my HOME and enjoy the rest of your week.
Blessings,
Sandi
I spent time here on your blog and know right away why we are friends! I love your big old table and all of the lovely plaid! Of course the Raggedy Ann doll in her chair is just precious! Everything about your home is perfect....just what I love! Did you make the stitchery at the end of your post? WOW! It is beautiful!
Carolyn this is my first time to your blog, and it's so nice! It's always lovely to meet someone who loves the Lord!!!
I came over after reading your post to me, and to be honest, I am a teeny bit confused. I'm not upset with you AT ALL. Please don't think that. I don't know where you got that idea, but that's the very last thing on my mind. I'm glad, though, that you liked the little penny runner I gave Benda. So do not fret one single itty bitty bit. Okay? Not one bit! Mrs. Magpie is not upset. Mrs. Magpie is rejoicing in the fact that you love the Lord! I do, too! :-)
Enjoy your evening and be blessed. He is good, and He is worthy to be praised. I am busy doing that right now.
I just spent the last few hours giving out candy to some mighty sweet little ones, and I'm off to bed!
Sending you warm hugs...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Your dining room looks very cozy for fall. I love the blue and white china and your antique table is a wonderful find. Beautiful runner too! Blessings, Pamela
Hi Carolyn, I love visiting your cottage. It makes me feel like I've gotten a big hug. Your red hutch is so pretty and I love your homespun table runner. At Sandi's party, I tried to click on your link, but it wouldn't go through. Part of your link was missing. Maybe it's fixed by now?? Hope you have a happy day.
Thanks for stopping by Carolynn, I love the cheery colors on your blog. And the phrase in the header, home is where your heart says ahhhh, perfect.
I have a burlap runner in the back of my mind, so when I saw yours on your gorgeous table, sigh...we would like to make one for our kitchen, both the table and the runner, lol.
Jen
Hi Carolyn, Your home and decor for the season is gorgeous. I love your blue and white dish collection. I have a very large collection of vintage blue willow that was my mom's and grandma's and I love it. So charming. Your table is lovely and so inviting. Visiting you is surely a special treat. Have a blessed day.
Hugs, CM
I love everything! I especially like runner it's so nice a wide and I love plaid. Love the table and the gorgeous cupboard!
Carolynn! I hope you don't mind--I'm gonna copy your table runner! It is EXACTLY what I need for my table--not in plaid--but definitely with the ruffle on the end! I have taxed my brain, trying to figure out what to do with a piece of fabric that's not wide enough for the table. Now, I know!
Love the table, too. I've been through Dandridge!
Thanks for the idea. . .You'll see it soon on my blog, I'm sure. I'll be sure and give you the credit!
Hugs from the Farmhouse,
Dru

What a steal! I love all of your fall displays.
You have created a lovely home.
I became a follower, so I'll be back to visit!
How beautiful your room looks in all it's fall glory, love the red hutch, and love love that material that now is your table runner! I found a soup tureen recently at GW, and just love them. I just found my first tureen with a spoon! Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me knnow you like my projects in October. Oops, almost forgot to say how much I loved that table, the energy is wonderful.
What can I say!!! Just gorgeous!
Dottie
I'm so glad you enjoyed our Baby in the Birdhouse and Sammy Squirrel during the hurricane posts!
And thank you for your mention about the Romney video on my sidebar. I think it's so ironic that that particular video has both Democrats and Republicans talking about his selfless service over the years, and yet today's headlines (from the media) are scrutinizing the hurricane reliefe work he did over the past few days as a photo opportunity. Anybody who has read up on his life knows that service to others is what he has done his entire life, and he jsut doesn't talk about it. I live in Massachusetts, where he was governor, and I don't know how many people are aware that neither he nor his Lieutenant Governor even took salaries while they were in office. I've looked back over his life to get a good idea of who he is as a person and a candidate and I have to say, I'm very impressed...
Again, so glad you enjoyed the posts!!! Donna
What a wonderful thought - people through the years sitting around that table, giving thanks to God.
That red is definitely so cheering! Love it, and the plaid.♥
What a charming blog and home you have. I can't wait to read more.
What a great find on the the tureen!!! Soup, book and fire that sounds wonderful. Thanks iso much for stopping by, Laura
What a fun time I've had here! I'm your newest follower, can't wait to come back and spend a little more time. I love your new runner you made, it's so wonderfully colorful. Love your gorgeous table, too!
I love your table runner, and the soup tureen surrounded by fall foliage is just perfect. Your blog makes me feel right at home, warm and cozy. Found your link at Claudia's Favorite Thing party, thanks for sharing with us. Hugs ~ Mary
I like your plaid, sure, but I can't find word for the TABLE. Wow. :-) Have a nice weekend! Regula

I agree with Dewena, your blog is filled with loveliness and charm. Nothing says Autumn more than plaids. I simply love what you did with your grandmother's buttons . . . it is not only beautiful, but such a sweet reminder of someone dearly loved. I found you through mutual followers and I do hope you share the love and follow me back.
I adore making new friends.
Your newest blogging sister, Connie:)
Hi there! Oh yes, I love plaid, too! :-) It really does seem to be the season for it, doesn't it? Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. Hope to see you again, soon. I think we might be from the same part of the country, too! :-)
~Angela~
Found your blog through your link on Claudia's blog. Love your red cupboard and your runner is gorgeous!
Oh boy! There are so many wonderful things in this post, I don't know where to start! I've always been tempted to collect Blueware. So far I have one little tea cup from the Goodwill for .99! After seeing your cupboard I think I'll be on the hunt for more! And that table...what a treasure!!!!!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us friend,
Erica :)
Simply Charming!
*hugs*deb
Oh my, do we just love the same things? I love homespun plain almost as much as I love red, toile, and checks. lol! I actually have a quilt started out of all homespuns. Maybe I will pull it out and finish it. That table is a fantastic find. Indeed, many many thankful Thanksgivings have been held there. Must say I am coveting (well happy for you) your darling red cupboard. Thrift items are the best! Guess what? I hit 4 thrift shops on Kauai. lol! Who goes to Hawaii to thrift?
Hugs,
Jann
