Aprons Aprons!

Summertime Sewing...
I love...love...love aprons!

What a joy it was to stitch up these children's aprons for the precious little ones!
I thought I would share my latest projects.
           There are four of them.
One of my favorite fabric collections...1930s reproductions.

Adding a ruffle in a coordinating print.

Close Up...
My favorite gathering method:
1.  Knot one end of DMC floss and then...
2. Zigzag over floss (lay floss 1/4" from edge of fabric).
3. Find center of ruffle piece and apron and then pin together.
4. Tighten DMC until gathers are equally spread on both sides of center pin.
5. Pin entire ruffle in place.
6. Stitch carefully along gathered edge making sure to hide zig zag inside seam. (1/2" seam)
7. Remove DMC after stitching is complete.

(I like this method because the DMC floss doesn't break when gathering.)

I love using coordinates...the more prints the better!
The apron bodice is lined with a coordinating fabric for extra strength and wear.

Making my own "Chenille Cottage" labels
and adding them discreetly to the inside of the apron.

Red, white and blue beach balls.
I love sewing with my favorite color...
RED!

My signature label...

PINK POODLES!
Ooo Lah Lah!

Feit Avec Amour
(Made With Love!)

Vintage reproduction prints
add such a sweet old fashioned look to this little apron.

Instead of a tie...I chose to add a "scrunchy" that slips over the child's head.
It's so much softer on a little ones neck.

Thank you for spending time with me in my sewing room.

I love to sew
I love sharing my latest projects
and
I love blessing others with the work of my hands.

Have a wonderful week, my sweet friends!

Blessings,
Carolynn  xoxo

Oh I love the colors on the last one. I've wanted to make a square apron...on the diagonal! I love it. Great idea to use the scruchy, too.

It's cute enough for a big kid like me!

Adorable aprons. I don't sew but if I did, I'd want to try my hand at these. So cute.

Oh Carolyn, these aprons are the cutest. Your choice of fabrics are perfect for each one. I want to try the gathering method-I hate when the thread breaks as you pull. Great hint. Also love your cute labels. I just love this post. Have a wonderful day, friend!

Oh my goodness. I love love love these. They look just like little pinafores that little girls should be in. I have had a request for little aprons and I will be working on them later in the week if time permits! Yours are gorgeous. That is the only way I have had luck with ruffles. DMC. I have tried a ruffler foot with no luck at all. I feel much more in control with DMC. Smiles...Renee

Your aprons are so pretty! I especially love the Pink Poodle one... I only have two little great neices and have already made one of them an apron and chefs hat to match. She loves it. The other neice is only 2 and doesn't even like to wear her clothes, so I am thinking I may wait on that apron! LOL!!

Carolynn, these are too cute! I love reproduction fabrics. They are among my favorites. I use that same method of gathering, only I zigzag over crochet thread. Works great, huh? I love your sweet labels. Do you just have a stamp that you had made? Too, too cute! Thanks for sharing your talent with Share Your Cup.

Jann

Dear Carolynn, your aprons are all absolutely adorable...I can't choose a favorite, love them all. Very clever to use the scrunchy around the neck, that would work well for adult size as well. Thank you for sharing your ruffling technique, I will try that!

The yellow one, is my very most favorite! It is appealing in many ways. You would be able to make great aprons out of old table cloths too. You have that talent.

Your aprons are absolutely adorable! And, I gather like you, except I use crochet thread. It's a great way to control the gathers.
Our net is on and off, but Issac has only brought us a little rain and wind. I'm trying to catch up while I can. Wanted to congratulate you on being featured! Jann's parties are always fun. . .
