I hope you all had a great 4th of July! Across America many enjoyed outdoor barbecues, patriotic parades, munching on hot dogs and watermelon and an evening of brightly colored fireworks! For all it was a perfect way to celebrate our nation's Independence Day!

I love to quilt! Most of my quilts are small...not for warmth, but for my love of decorating. I made my first quilt in 1991.
"I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy...
Yankee Doodle Do or Die.
A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam,
Born on the Fourth of July!"
This miniature quilt was a thank you gift that I made for the French family that my husband stayed with when he attended the 50th Anniversary of D-day in 1994. He served as a translator at the Utah Beach Ceremonies.
I am very fond of Raggedy Ann & Andy! My son, Matthew, gave my first pair to me when he was a senior in high school. He had overheard me saying that as a little girl I had yearned for my own. They are one of the most thoughtful gifts my son has ever given me. Today, I have added many more to my collection.
Can you tell that I love Red, White and Blue?? Year round my home is filled with the color red...but, in the summertime I love adding white and blue!
This photo was taken 24 years ago! My husband just returned from six months in the Persian Gulf and the Pacific. This was one of the happiest days of my life!
Thank you for stopping by my dear blogging friends
I hope you will come back soon!
Blessings,
Carolynn xoxo

Raggedy Ann and Andy xtarted here in Muskegon, but saddly are from China now, i would love to see them come back here and bring some industry back to our hometown. Your quilts are all delightful, such treasures...sue
We have so much in common...a few being the love of red, being military wives, affection for childhood toys and pride in our country. I am so glad I met you and that you are a part of my day. Happy Independence Day! =D
Little Son is very thoughtful and touching with the things he gives and does for me and he is only 8. I find it hard being separated from my husband for just a few days; I can't imagine what it must be like waving him off for six months of separation. I am still daunted by my sewing machine and have not even tried to thread it yet (lol I could do with a mentor!) Lily. xxx
Gorgeous quilts. I cannot even imagine the time and care put into those stitches. We have 3 generations of Air Force men in our family. It runs very deep on both sides. While my husband did not serve his father was a doctor in the Air Force. My daughter has two Raggedy Anns one that was made by hand. So glad you had a wonderful fourth of July...smiles..Renee

Carolynn, sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I love your quilts. When I first started I made a lot of small ones. My son asked if I was ever going to make a quilt that would cover more that his big toe. lol! I have made lots of big ones since, but alot are still for decor more than for keeping us warm. Glad to have featured you, your porch was so inviting. Happy to be your new friend. I had a set of handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy when I was young. They were lost when My parents moved.
Hugs,
Jann

Hello Carolynn~
Well, I am delighted to visit and read your wonderful post...SO many charming photos! Love the teddy bears, first of all. And quilts! I started making small quilts before our daughter was born, then stopped because I was sewing little outfits for her. I have lots of fabric waiting for me and a wonderful new Pfaff to boot. God Bless your husband for his service and sacrifice. My husband spent over 32 years as a police officer. WHat a sweet thing for your son to give you a Raggedy Ann doll. I have a special place in my heart for ol' Raggedy myself. Have a great week, sweet lady~

What fun to find your post from Rednesday. I'm always true to red, white, and blue too! Love seeing your quilts and reading about your story. Thanks for sharing.........Sarah
God bless your husband. My dad was in the Navy too in WWII so we have some great old pics and his uniform.
Thanks for your nice comments on our recent post! Sorry to be slow in responding -- seems like summer just flies by. Come see us again soon. xo
Oh Carolyn, your quilts are so wonderful, so very charming!
Happy Rednesday!
I've come over from Jann Olson's and love your quilts. It's something that I would like to be able to do but don't have the patience! I love your Navy memories. My dad was in submarines in WW2 and went through some awful experiences that he would never talk about. What brave men!! Bless your husband! Have a lovely day. Joan
Thanks for visiting my ruby firetruck this week. It led me to your lovely blog. I went back to your very first post and was so touched to see your first comment was from your husband. But, those navy guys are like that. My husband is also retired navy. He served for thirty years mostly on the west coast. We met and married after his retirement so I missed all that goes with being a navy wife. But, I am so bless to have him in my life he even gave up his beloved California weather to move to the midwest and all our unpredictable changes in temperature.
Love your quilts.. Im a Navy brat myself. God bless!!
What a wonderful post Miz Caroline!
You are doing such a great job with your blog. Thanks for shareing all your wonderful quilting and memories!
Love
Marcie
