Sweet Stitches

Hello Ladies........
During the summer months I like squirreling myself away in the air conditioning to beat the heat. I've been busily stitching away.  Hand Embroidery is such a "Sweet Retreat"!

Nothin' but blue skies from now on..."

Oh Carolyn! Your stitching is beautiful and I adore the patterns you've chosen. May I ask where the patterns are from? So cute and I think I need them :) And what is the thread you use, I've never seen it before and it's so very yummy. In another life, I used to be embroidery besotted - you may well get me started again! ;)

Happy stitching and Happy Rednesday!

Carolyn, I just love this whole post. I love the floss colors laid out in a row, and those stitchery bunnies are the cutest things ever.Your stitching is gorgeous. I've been doing some embroidery, too. It is a good thing to do when it's so hot outside!

I have some pillowcase that I hate to use because the embroidery was done by my grandmother and she even tatted the lace trim.

Nice to see the art of hand sticking is still alive. I'm afraid I have not known anyone who still does this lovely work in ages.

Are your dear bunnies tea towels...or are they quilt blocks...or??? I see so many possibilities! Lovely work, sweet friend. I am learning to paper piece hexagons...time to relearn some old skills and get new ones. =D

What talent you have! I think I need to give hand stitching a try. I'm going to be off my feet for quite awhile due to some surgery, and wouldn't it be great if I could become addicted to stitching? LOL
It's a bit intimidating, so I think I better look for a really simple pattern!
Thank you for the inspiration! :)

Oh my gosh, I am IN LOVE with this post. Those skeins of floss seriously touched my heart, and I started googling because I HAD to have some. I thought it was maybe a new floss you were making and I wanted to carry it in my shop for you! Then I realized they are vintage and I'm so sad. Bummer. Anyhow, I will just come back and look at your pictures and that will have to do! You do such a beautiful job, I love all your projects. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving the sweet comment, I really appreciate it! Have a wonderful weekend my friend, and keep on stitching! (and sharing pics so we can enjoy your talents)
Hugs,
Julie

Hello my lovely! I think I have have fallen in love with all your bunnies! I especially like 'A hare raising tale'! They are all so charming, and beautifully crafted. Just think how lovely it would be to sit over a cup of tea whilst stitching and chatting away! Who knows, maybe one day I'll pop over the pond and come and say 'hi'! Have a wonderfully, blessed weekend, and enjoy times of refreshing! Much love, Tania x
P.S. Thank you for stopping by my blog, and for your lovely, cheerful words. They mean the world to me! ♥

Hi Carolynn,
(Please forgive me for not seeing previously that you spell your name with two "l's"! Sheesh!)
You're a big sweetie. Thank you so much for answering my questions.
I am familiar with Bunny Hill, have always enjoyed oooohing and ahhhing over their darling things. Alas they don't have any embroidery patterns by themselves of bunnies that I could find. You have to buy a quilt kit. WAH! I'm going to think about it for a bit and decide whether I'll actually ever make them if I buy the kit - my eyes for projects are always bigger than my interest or time allows. ;)
I was able to find some of the floss online - although still fun, not as fun as yours since the array of colors wasn't as yummy or as large.
Yes! I sure do know about both Turkey Feathers and My Vintage Mending for patterns - thanks so very much, that's so sweet of you and it's always good to give my old middle aged memory a jiggle and a joggle!
Thanks again so much for all of your help,
Sally

Oh my gosh Carolynn these are absolutely darling. I love to embroider. I made some bunny dish towels from a vintage pattern a few years ago to hang in my laundry for Spring. Yours are so cute and I loved what you wrote about each one. What kind of floss is it? I like the looks of it. I usually always use DMC. Thanks for sharing these cuties with Share Your Cup.
Hugs,
Jann

Hi

I had marked this site to favorites and came back to visit again today on my lunch break....was hoping to see if you'd posted where these cute patterns came from...my neice was just saying last week that she'd like to learn embroidery, and it's been ages since I have done any but these looked so cute I thought I might have a go at it again and do one or two with her...
